Nebula School

Nebula School (formerly known as the Montessori School of Shanghai) opened in 2004, dedicated to offering the highest quality Montessori education from infancy through early childhood based on the principles of the Montessori method.

Nebula School is located on 3 beautiful campuses and is the Montessori school in Shanghai accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Middle States Association for Elementary and Secondary Schools.

The word "Nebula" has been our hope for the children since the beginning. Regardless of the changes of time and the vicissitudes of life, children are the hope of the future. We hope that every child who graduates from Nebula will shine with the courage and resilience they have gained here to connect the present with the future, to pass on the civilization and wisdom of generations, and to build a better, more harmonious and prosperous world together. At Nebula, we want to provide such an environment that every teacher provides love and care for children to develop and show their fullest potential as future citizens of the world.

The Montessori method fosters progressive, self-motivated growth in all areas of child development—cognitive, emotional, social, and physical. This is the framework of the curriculum offered in multi-age bilingual classrooms integrated with the 2nd Reform Chinese curriculum.

Children learn through hands-on activities and experiences, not through rote memorization. The specially trained teachers create engaging environments where children have the freedom to practice, explore and use materials to answer their questions and discover new ones. RESPECT AND COOPERATION

The Montessori approach emphasizes the child's natural human spirit and development and creates a bond through respect and cooperation. MULTI-AGE LEARNING

Multi-age classrooms allow children to explore, practice, and master skills at their own pace in language, sensorial, practical life, geography, science, and mathematics. Multi-age groups foster leadership, team building, as well as academic, emotional, and social skills. Children learn individually as well as in group learning environments led by the older children and the teachers.

The furniture, activity areas, and fixtures are child-sized and within easy reach and view to engage and accommodate children comfortably.
INDEPENDENCE AND SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING

From birth, children strive towards independence. They want to do things for themselves, and to participate in the world around them. In Montessori classrooms, this natural drive towards independence is fostered through practical, social, and intellectual experiences. Children become active agents in their education, saying, “Help me to do it myself." Montessori teachers assist children in moving to higher levels of independence every day. This assistance supports children to become independent, confident learners through self-directed activities and carefully guided practice.
