On December 22, all three MSS campuses held their unique winter concert! The lively performances of the children in the concert were the best showcase of the MSS Montessori pedagogy, providing parents the opportunity to witness the growth of their Montessori children.

The MSS Montessori philosophy emphasizes a child’s autonomy and discovery of self. In the MSS curriculum, children are encouraged to discover their own interests and passions, and this concert was the perfect stage for them to express themselves. Piano solo, Cheerleading, Chinese Classical Dance, Chair Dance, Christmas Chorus …… at the event, all kinds of rich forms of singing, dancing and instrumental performances were performed one by one. We saw the confidence and the talents of our children in their performances.

Music plays an important role in the Montessori method. At MSS, music is an important tool for nurturing children’s emotional development, helping them to improve their concentration, memory, and language skills. In the concert, we could feel the children’s love and talent for music. They not only showed their talents in the performance, but also practiced their social skills and the awareness to cooperate with others. They learn how to express themselves and develop confidence and expression skills.

The Winter Concert not only brought joy and opportunities for the children to express themselves, but also valuable parent-child time for the families. Through the event, parents were able to observe the children’s performances and participation in the activities, and more concretely felt the positive impact of Montessori education on their children, so that they could better understand the philosophy and support a good home-school cooperation. We appreciate our parents’ active participation, they shared the joy with their children and witnessed their growth!

The Winter Concert came to a successful end with a lot of fun. It not only let the children feel the charm of art, but also let parents see their children in the school environment, which can be very different from the time when they are at home. Their children can be so musically talented and they are taking advantage of every bit of their time at MSS, and they will shine brightly one day in the future.
We believe that MSS’s ongoing home-school services and enrichment activities will help parents gain a better understanding of the Montessori philosophy, which helps them better understand what do their children really need to grow. So we can be patient when waiting for the flowers to bloom!
