School ended at 4 pm, but there were parents arriving at the MSS Minhang campus for an exciting workshop!
It is the beginning of a new semester, and the “Silent Journey” at MSS is about to begin.
Away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, it was time to be a kid again!
Fast and efficient is the way of adults. Children are “slow” and have their own rhythm.
In today’s fast-paced life, slowing down seems “different”.
We invite parents to come to a Montessori classroom, to be a child, and to experience Montessori education from a child’s perspective. The pace of parents will slow down.
No matter how noisy the world is, parents can come to the “Silent Journey” and feel at peace.

Single-minded and undisturbed
It is part of the Montessori philosophy not to interfere too much, not to disturb the child’s focused work, and to guide the child moderately.
This focus challenges a common perception that children are not focused enough, become easily restless and are impatient.
If you have ever come to a Montessori classroom and observed, you would have noticed: children can be very focused.

At the same time, in the Montessori classroom, we promote the principle of respect. The children will work individually and interact with each other in the classroom, provided that we wait patiently while the other children are working and do not disturb them until they have completed a task, and then we talk and interact with them. We each focus on and respect each other.
So,when mom and dad join the”SilentJourney”, they wil not be disturbe and will be respected.
Through the Montessori materials and activities, the teachers allow parents to experience the pure magic of the Montessori environment and enter the child’s “time and space”.

Find answers and get relief!
We took photos of the parents on their “Silent Journey”: everyone was listening carefully to the teacher’s explanations with a hint of curiosity on their faces.

Many parents came to the Montessori classroom with many questions.
Many parents came to the Montessori classroom with many questions.
For example, when the teachers introduced the materials, parents asked how they are used.
For example, when the teacher leads parents to the language area, they will ask: Will my child be able to speak English by age 3?
Another example is when moving from the language area to the math area – a parent asked why is my child not interested in math.
Our teachers have been deeply involved in Montessori education for many years and understand the parents’ worries. They use their experience and skills to ease parents’ concerns.

The Montessori classroom has five curriculum areas: practical life, sensorial, math, language, and culture. Each with its own unique materials for children aged 3 – 6 years.
Montessori materials are rich and diverse, with each material having its own exclusive use and purpose.

During the “Silent Journey”, parents experienced the Montessori classroom in real life and found answers to their questions.
Please don’t worry, Mom and Dad. Each child is at a different stage and their abilities and development progress at their own pace.
You think they are not interested in something, but maybe they are just not “interested” yet.
You want them to be interested in something, but perhaps that “expectation” is not suitable for the child.
We believe that in the Montessori classroom, our patient guidance allows children to find their interests and develop at their own pace.
When they reach that moment, they will develop an inner drive.
The internal drive is powerful.

Further Details from the Silent Journey
The MSS “Silent Journey” is held every school year. We appreciate the participation of every parent and welcome our future parents to experience the magic of Montessori.
Although we always say that children grow up in the blink of an eye, we still have opportunities to understand them. Embrace children’s perspectives from when they are young.
After all, Mom and Dad were once children too!
Teaching is the seed, and the growth of children is the fruit.
As long as we “experience” more, we will surely reap the harvest.
If you start the “journey”, you will always find the answer!
MSS will always be with you on this journey.
We will live long into the future.
