Spend some time in a Montessori Classroom like a child: the Silent Journey

Date: 2023.12.14

Editor: MSS

Once again, we are having our annual Silent Journey.

The Silent Journey is a unique opportunity for parents to put themselves in their children’s shoes and experience first-hand what a Montessori environment is like and learn it through the entire continuum; from Infant & Toddler to Early Childhood.

This experience is a profound revelation for most parents; as most did not go through a Montessori education.

The event will start out with a short introduction, followed by a “silent walk” through each of the different areas of the classroom community. This journey gives the parents an opportunity to observe and absorb all the knowledge and details of the classroom community.

Parents explore all aspects of the curriculum, from; practical life, sensorial, language, art, science, culture, as well as learning grace & courtesy.

Each area of the classroom will have several different Montessori activities. A lesson card is available at each workstation, where Parents can invite a Montessori teacher for a presentation or explore the activities according to the presentation card.

You will see how materials move organically through the program levels-building deeper more complex understanding at each stage and experience how a Montessori concept can be explored and applied broadly in real life.

Why come and try the Silent Journey

Through the Silent Journey, parents will gain an overview of the interconnectedness and cognitive coverage of the Montessori environment for children aged 0-6 years.

Families will also experience the joy as being a child learning in a Montessori environment.

The activity is not limited to new MSS families, but is designed for all families with children of different age ranges.

Parents will have the opportunity to quietly observe, manipulate and explore the materials like what children are experiencing, with the graceful and clear guidance of the teacher.

Through this event, we get to know each other and establish parent-school connections. We also learn how deeply passionate teachers are about what they do and perhaps most importantly; to experience how fun learning can be in a Montessori environment!

We would really appreciate if you may kindly introduce this activity to more MSS families who may get interested. Thank you for supporting us in developing a healthy home-school education platform!
