🌈 On September 21, our three Nebula School campuses (formerly known as the Montessori School of Shanghai) came together to celebrate the International Day of Peace.

The children expressed what “peace” means to them in their own words. It can be a smile shared between friends, the kindness of a handshake or a hug. They also created their own “PEACE” artworks and sang “Light a Candle for Peace” together, sending their good wishes out into the world.

✅ Dr. Montessori believed that peace stems from inner order and harmony, and must be nurtured from childhood. At Nebula School, Peace Education is integrated into daily life:

🌱 In mixed-age settings, older children care for younger ones, while younger children learn to express themselves and show respect, developing empathy;

🌱 The “Peace Table” helps children resolve conflicts through respectful conversation, learning to listen and communicate;

🌱 Cross-cultural theme activities help children understand diversity and respect differences;

🌱 Teachers lead by example, demonstrating equal communication with gentle yet firm attitudes.

These everyday experiences help children develop emotional awareness, empathy, and social skills. A child with inner peace is more likely to grow into a an adult who can collaborate, communicate, and contribute positively to their community. In today’s highly interconnected workplace, individuals who can navigate emotions, understand others, and foster harmony consistently emerge as influential leaders.

Peace education is not about avoiding conflict, but about learning to navigate with empathy and respect. It empowers children to be compassionate problem-solvers and thoughtful community members. These qualities are what will truly help them thrive in the future.
