With fervor and dedication, our faculty is diligently preparing, infused with boundless energy and affection, donning a rejuvenated outlook, eagerly anticipating the commencement of a promising school year, and standing ready to embrace the arrival of both students and parents…

Teachers, Poised for Action, Anticipating the New Academic Voyage

As the summer holiday inches towards its conclusion, a new semester looms on the horizon! Prior to the grand academic voyage, MSS orchestrated prelude ceremonies across its three campuses, enveloped in an ambiance of blossoms, confections, and applause, a tapestry of joyous expressions reflecting the anticipation of reuniting.

Meanwhile, the collaborative efforts of the Zion Education Group and MSS administration culminated in tailored training sessions for faculty members, imparting the blueprint and aspirations for the incoming semester. At the core of Montessori education lies the child, and within this paradigm, teachers serve as mentors and pillars of support. MSS eagerly anticipates teachers donning new avatars, orchestrating their commitment towards presenting their best selves for the children and parents.

Hello Visit: A Preamble to New Bonds!

Embracing the ethos of Hello Visit, MSS’s tradition continues! A prelude to the new academic journey involves inviting parents and children to the school premises on the eve of the school’s commencement, an intimate introduction to the Montessori classrooms, an acclimatization to the physical layout, and a meet-and-greet with the educators.

Central to MSS’s Montessori philosophies is the “Prepared Environment,” a dynamic entity addressing the holistic needs of a child’s psychological, cultural, and social growth, a medium for nurturing self-care, self-respect, and an independent character. In this intricate interplay, the adults, or teachers, aren’t just architects of the environment; they represent the conduit between the child and the surroundings. Their guidance is pivotal; without their support, the child’s ability to construct oneself using the environment would be stymied. Hence, in the Montessori environment, the role of the teacher is pivotal.

With the horizon of a new school year edging nearer, the child’s anticipation of their nascent experience is still shrouded in the unknown. Hello Visit serves as a window for children and educators to acquaint themselves beforehand, paving the way for optimistic expectations, thus facilitating the child’s transition into their new scholarly environment.

Simultaneously, this event also offers parents a patient orientation to their child’s scholastic life and daily regimen, affording them a platform for direct communication with the educators.

New Parent Meeting: A Comprehensive Understanding of MSS!

As the calendar ticked to August 19th, the scheduled meeting of new parents transpired across all three MSS campuses. While the essence of Hello Visit lies in personalized one-on-one communication, the New Parent Meeting gathers parents on-site, facilitating their engagement with a comprehensive exposition by the administration, encapsulating the gamut of school management, operational frameworks, and academic pedagogy.

Through the new parent meetings, parents can gain insight into school policies, the school’s culture, and Montessori educational philosophy. Additionally, this provides an opportunity to introduce MSS’s teachers and help parents better understand the goals and plans for the upcoming semester, ensuring alignment between both parties in the future.

Sign-ins, seats taken, attentive listening… in a calm and harmonious atmosphere, parents attentively participate in the parent meetings, while the presentations prepared by the school and teachers carry warm expectations.

Rooted in the Montessori educational philosophy, MSS’s endeavor reaches beyond the conventional, embracing its founding principles from two decades past, serving as a conduit for sharing experiences and epiphanies, thus dispelling doubts and fostering unwavering trust.

Pre-School Tips

[1] My child is about to start school, and I’m worried about separation anxiety. What can I do?

As your child stands at the threshold of a novel voyage, navigating unfamiliar terrain, it’s only natural to feel trepidation. We’d propose a measured approach: parents, endeavor to unwind. Each one of us grapples with moments of anxiety; however, it’s advisable to temper outward displays of such sentiments in your child’s presence. Bear in mind, your emotional state can be contagious. By approaching this new phase with nonchalance, your child is more likely to absorb a similar sense of equanimity.

[2] How can parents facilitate this transition?

01. Employ subtlety in communication. Rather than underscore the impending “start of school” to your child, a phrase that may be alien, consider a reframing:

“You’re entering a new stage of growth, where you’ll meet new friends and teachers!” or “Tomorrow, Mom will take you to the school to have a look…” This approach helps set expectations and helps your child adapt to starting school.

02. Exercise restraint in probing. When school concludes for the day, as parents converge to collect their offspring, adopting a more casual stance is prudent. Offer a simple greeting, sparing the inquisition. While it’s true your child has likely flourished in the Montessori setting, engaging in independent tasks and group activities, their tender age might hinder them from articulating these experiences effectively.

Should queries arise, we’d recommend engaging with teachers to unearth more about your child’s school journey.

03. Bring comfort items. If needed, parents can let their children bring comfort items to school. This can help stabilize their emotions and assist in better napping during the day.

04. Maintain consistent routines. Establishing independent habits and self-care skills are crucial, especially for new students. Over weekends, it’s advised to maintain a similar routine as school days: early bedtimes, early risings, appropriate naps, allowing children to eat independently, take care of their own tasks, and complete activities from start to finish.

04. Regular attendance holds profundity. A consistent routine forms the bedrock upon which a child’s progression to primary school, the cultivation of study habits, and an array of other life skills stand. The Montessori environment and its materials are structured and interconnected, bolstering a child’s multifaceted development. Frequent absenteeism could obstruct vital developmental junctures, derailing routines, and impeding the fostering of independence, responsibility, time management, and study habits. Parents, do appreciate the significance of regular attendance, a tenet designed to ensure your child’s optimal growth.

05. Entrust your child, extend faith to educators. At MSS, the interplay between home and school is cherished, underpinned by a common objective: empowering children to burgeon within the Montessori philosophy. Foster a belief in your child’s potential, for Montessori philosophy rests on this cornerstone—faith in a child’s innate capacity, a proactive spirit of learning and exploration, and the ability to self-learning. Parallelly, repose your trust in the institution and teachers, cognizant that administrators and Montessori educators, with their rich experience, possess insights into child psychology and growth trajectories. These teachers embody love and responsibility, fully committed to Montessori education. Trust, is the linchpin of home-school communication.

Some Reflections in the End
