My name is Echo and I became a member of this big family only 6 months ago as a marketing specialist. One of my weekly tasks is to generate those exciting moments happened in four of our MSS campuses into articles which would be shared to our community on the official WeChat account. But today, I would love to share a little from my own perspective.

Ever since the first day I started working at MSS, it has been a place of ‘mysteries’ with all of its materials and terminology…the Montessori Method includes so much and it utterly changed my understanding towards child education. I am no expert of the Method but I have been applying all the little things I have learned at MSS to interact with my own 4 years old daughter. It has proved itself in such a practical and useful way. Everyday at MSS has been busy and is of great fun…while the recent COVID development in Shanghai caused us to work from home this March.

My colleagues and I, which I would rather refer to as‘comrades’, I have to attend virtual meetings with our children around and stay on call 24 hours a day. I have been responsible for our WeChat live channel with once or twice livestreams almost every day which provides the most authentic knowledge about the Montessori education.

We have been busy every single day with posters, articles, short videos, live streaming, seminars, brainstorm, contents, reviews…the team has been working on various projects and it is all paid off when we receive great feedbacks from our parent community.

The familiar routine has been interrupted. We are now shopping for food online at 6 A.M. It has become the most important thing in the following days. Everyone suddenly find that… Having a vegetable garden on our balcony can be way better than great WIFI or internet skills. Chinese cabbage at the price of 90 RMB has become such a luxury. Green vegetables are more popular than the jade. We are worried about what we will have for meals in the next day. And a five-day lockdown is making things worse…

However, this COVID strike in March has also made my colleagues more of friends and families. We need support both psychologically and physically. We have a collaboration meeting every 11:30 at noon to review what we have done and plan the next steps. It has been suggested in the meetings that teachers would have daily interactions with children and keep one-on-on greetings with them. We also care for our colleagues who are under quarantine and especially our international teachers. We understand that they may become more home sick during this time, and we are glad to support them as much as we can.

Emergency supplies such as rice, oil, vegetables, and fruits are delivered by principals, management, and all colleagues when they are not under quarantine. We are busy and glad to let love run forward. This gives us happiness and shows the spirit of the Montessori philosophy! This is what I have gained as a humble member at MSS. The pandemic will be gone sooner or later, but the friendship lasts forever. I would keep working on providing more quality content for MSS and, together with my colleagues, contribute to the fulfillment of the mission of the Montessori Method. We are MSS Family.
